If the key fob for your 2018 Jeep Compass stops working, it is more than likely time to replace the key fob battery. This is something that does not require much skill or time.

Most vehicles have key fobs for many functions of a vehicle, such as starting the vehicle, locking and unlocking a vehicle, lifting the trunk, and emergency panic alarm.

Key fobs typically need a battery replacement after a year or two of everyday use.

Procedura

Passo 1

  • Remove the valet key from the top by sliding the button over.
  • You can not open the FOB without removing the valet key.

Passo 2

  • Use an opening tool or flathead screwdriver to separate the top and bottom of the key fob.

Passo 3

  • Use a spudger or pair of tweezers to pull the battery out.
  • Take care not to puncture the battery.
  • You can grab the battery with you fingers once the tweezers raise it out of the battery clasp.

Passo 4

  • Replace the new battery in the battery holder.
  • Make sure that the battery is inserted correctly with positive(+) and negative(-) terminals corresponding with the symbols on the device, or the key fob will not work.

Passo 5

  • Align the two halves of the fob and press them together with your fingers until they snap into place.

Passo 6

  • Replace the valet key at the top.
